We write to you keeping you informed on the Discovery publication made yesterday afternoon to brokers.
Discovery publicised this morning that they are making provisions on premiums due by members / employers during the COVID 19 lockdown period.
Many members are facing financial restraints during the current lockdown period where they will not be receiving their monthly salaries.
Discovery Health members who are individual (private paying) members may apply to Discovery Health to use their medical savings account (MSA) to pay their medical aid premiums. Member must have had credit savings carried forward from last year equal / exceeding at least 1 month’s medical aid premium. Members will be required to call into the call centre for this.
Should members not have savings they may suspend their premiums for 3 months however this will mean cover suspended for 3 months. Members will be required to call into the call centre for this too.
Employer groups of 10 – 200 members (on cover) may request a 2 month premium holiday interest free; employers may do this application online and go through a credit risk assessment process.
